Your perspective is based on your experiences and knowledge, but I also think about it in a different way.

Consider the story of the tortoise and the hare. These two animals have decided to race against each other, and the hare expects to win. Anyone watching the race also expects the hare to win. But then the hare gets too comfortable with this expectation and decides to nap in the middle of the race. The tortoise wins the race and the hare is shocked by this upset. People usually think this story is about pride, overconfidence, and determination.

But what if it’s not?

What if the hare doesn’t think she has anything to prove by winning or not winning the race, so has decided to meditate during the race instead, and whoever wins, wins? What if the hare knows the tortoise will likely win as result, and thinks it may be a helpful way to boost the tortoise’s confidence? Maybe the hare is a Rebel Leader and this is how she sets an example of supporting and looking out for others by showing that not everything needs to be a competition and it’s okay to go at your own pace.

And maybe there’s pressure on the tortoise to win because it would be considered an upset and there would be a celebration. But what if the tortoise notices the hare meditating during the race and is curious about it? What if the tortoise decides to compete with herself and is pleasantly surprised to win the race at her own speed? Maybe She Persisted for her own sake and sense of well-being.

It’s always helpful to think of other perspectives. Maybe your story will change in an unexpected way as a result.
